The prompt for this project was, “What have you learned recently?” and after much thought, I reflected on a place I hold dear to my heart, Pentwater. As a kid growing up around nature and with an emphasis on outdoor exploration greatly impacted me, and I wanted to depict this feeling with this print.
Looking back on how privileged I was as a child to grow up with this outlet, I recognize that it’s increasingly rare in childhoods today. In a world where now children grow up on their devices, I've learned how important connecting with nature and dedicating time to outdoor activities is.
My brother and I are shown at the bottom of the cabin’s steps, discovering a bright light (up to interpretation on what it represents).
I created a few different versions of the print, some with 3 colors, and some with black on top as well.
